I went to a local keyboard meetup held by reddit’s r/MechanicalKeyboards/ and they had tons of nice custom keyboard with many different types of mechanical switches. Some I liked and some felt very strange. The SIIG Minitouch was one of the keyboards present at the event and I really took a liking to it. Maybe because every time you see a beige classic keyboard it’s a huge piece of hardware. This keyboard on the other had was the opposite. It was a ten less keyboard. In other words it had no separate number pad. Not only was it a design I was liking at the time a compact keyboard that is but the type of switches it had were a pleasure to type on. So I got my hands on one via eBay and decided to make a video about it…twice.
SIIG Minitouch Typing Test – RODE Procaster – iPhone 6s+( Plus ) – White Alps
Hey Fam – This video is a quick typing test using 10FastFingers.com
There are two sections. The first is recorded using a RODE Procaster Dynamic Microphone. Because it’s a dynamic mic (only records real close and rejects a lot of ambient noise) I decided to process the audio for loudness. The Procaster may sound a bit harsh so please take a second to hear the iPhone version. If I hand’t processed it the audio would have been too low.
If you would like a more “natural sound” the second half of this video has the audio directly from the iPhone 6s+ I used to record this.
Apologies for the shake. My tripod is very cheap and that’ all I have for the moment.
SIIG MiniTouch Typing Test V2
This one has a Better Mic, Camera, Angle, and Typing demonstration!
I had to re-do it because it…deserved it.
This keyboard has white alps and is pretty clicky. I set it on top of a small towel to avoid the extra noise from the wood table.
The typing test was my first go at it so I hadn’t warmed up. The only difference would have probably been less errors and or maybe 4 more wpm.
You can only buy these keyboards on ebay I think.
Let me know what you think!
I might do a DAS cherry blue typing test in the future.
